so because my skin photographed the same color as my cap sleeve, i had to alter the picture funny. i need to go tanning. i do not care about the skin cancer. okay so i do, but i really hate being so pasty white! oh well. today as i was in the shower i was so excited about the prospect of shaving my legs when this is all over! i mean for real! i have not shaved in month and it will be a monumental day to do that. i might even have to blog about it. and yes, my dress is from walmart of all places! best $12 i ever spent.

ignore my crazy face. i am a little ridiculous at times. i have realized that i need some new clothes. when you are taking pictures of your outfits daily it is a little depressing to realize that you wear some of the same things all the time. if only i had an endless supply of money to buy all that i want. that would be nice. the nicest lady told me that my color combination was very lovely. she loved what i was wearing. only 5 more days after today and i will be done with the purple tights! i can't believe that february is next week! where did january go? i have been so caught up with my blog that i haven't had time to enjoy 2010! well i guess that is what vacations are for right?

so today we had stake conference. i didn't really know and still showed up for sacrament at our normal time of 11:00. well guess what? stake conference started at 10:00. i was only an hour late, don't worry about it. but i did look pretty cute. i am fully aware that this is a total repeat, but i slept over at my sisters and i needed a guaranteed ensemble. tonight i colored carrie's hair and what an adventure that was. i used a color i was so not familiar with and it splashed all over me and my apartment. awesome.

so last night it snowed like 1 foot. i really thought that we would get away with no snow this winter. char luckily told me to move my car into her garage. i had to dig it out before moving it. i was so ticked off. stupid snow. i am convinced that the snow made work really slow. the best part of the day was coming to my sister's house to watch her kiddies. oh and 6 year old halle took this picture from the stairs. she is great.

i still haven't thought of anything for february yet. this is a really big decision that i haven't made yet. i can't think right now.

day off! wahoo. remember how i love my days off. good news i dyed my hair. it looks great. i got to chill with my good friend jobi and her mom. good times always with them. today i also read an article in people magazine about heidi montag about her 10 plastic surgeries in 1 day! 1 freaking day! what? what? so ridiculous! she is the most superficial and crazy girl i have ever seen. she looks ugly. oh well. poor her.

tonight i made home made tortillas. yep i am just that amazing. also my sharpie tattoo didn't come off in the shower today. awesome.

seeing as i didn't get home until 1 in the morning, i slept in again. man oh man. okay and when i woke up it was raining outside and i could here it coming down and in that moment i wanted nothing more than to stay in bed all day and do nothing all day! due to the rain work was semi slow and the day dragged on. i saw a women at work today with the most adorable footless tights so i asked here where she got them and she said target, so i went there after work to scope them out. i spent about half an hour looking at jewelery i didn't need and by the time i got to the footless tights i decided i didn't need them. but i saw the same woman and her daughter at target! so funny. after target i went home and changed into pajamas, gave myself a sharpie tattoo on my foot while talking on the phone and realized that due to the fact that i have been wearing tights everyday i have neglected to shave. yet my legs are so hairy! i am almost to the point where i look like an 11 year old girl! gross. well i just guess it is an occupational hazard at this point.

so i am not going to lie...i didn't get out of my pajamas all day! judge all you want, but it was the weekend.

my sister called in sick to work so we could hang out all day. she is pretty rad like that. but first i woke up to zoe saying 'wake up aunt aly, it's good morning.' i love that she calls me aunt aly...i just love it. yes i slept in her bed cause she wanted to have a sleepover. she really is the coolest chic ever! anyway my sis and zoe made us pancakes and we just chilled all day. so i may not have worn purple tights, but it was the good weekend ever.

at the last minute i tucked in my cami and belted the shorts...too lazy and late to take a picture. today i literally stayed in my pajamas until i took a shower at 7:00 pm! boo me for being lazy. but my sister was at work all day so i hung out with my b.i.l and my adorable nieces. oh and i got a new haircut, bought a way cute new purse and got some delicious doughnuts from dick's market! i wish that place existed here. anyway so sat night i met up with some friends at keys on main in slc for my friend ashley's 21 birthday. yeah i have young friends. it was a joyous night. i love k.o.m...so fun to go and listen to some fun tunes and mild swearing. after chilling there for a bit we chowed down at chili's and i headed home to chat with my sis and fall asleep watching public television.

i just realized that i repeat a lot! but the fact of the matter is that i work at shade and i have to wear shade to work, so i repeat a lot. sorry. i am so glad it is finally friday! i somehow was able to wake up in time to wash and style my hair. it was nothing short of a miracle! i got off work at 4 and just love the idea of getting off work early. it gives me something to look forward to everyday!

after work i had dinner with a dear friend...jessie. well we cheated and had dessert first and then went to dinner. but you can do that sort of thing when you are an adult! after dinner i headed to farmington to spend the weekend with my sister. tonight was also the viewing of a friend of mine that passed away this past week. it ended at 8 and i didn't think i would make it in time, but i got to the exit at 7:40 so i sped to the mortuary and made it there in 5 minutes. i got there to find a ginormous line that wrapped around one room, then through the foyer, wrapped into another room, turned a corner and then down a long hall! so i knew i was going to be there awhile. it was good to see friends and parents of friends that i haven't seen in a long time. it was also good to be able to reminisce about matt and remember his loving and fun side. also, matt was an organ donor and someone in california received his heart. so his family was all wearing purple and i fit right in wearing my orchid cami and purple tights! an hour and a half later i made it to my sister's house safe and sound.

due to the fact that i was at work so late the night before i slept in as long as possible and threw on the first thing i could find and ran out the door. i realize that my face looks like i am really annoyed in this picture, but i was so late and didn't have time to think about taking a million pictures until i got it right. this is also the first thursday that i had to work in about 2 months! the even more exciting part of that is the fact the i had the first saturday off in 2 months! glorious weekend to look forward to! this was such an uneventful day that i had to look in my adorable jill bliss day planner to make sure i didn't do anything! man not having the internet to post daily is really cramping my style! but i did cut some bangs today and they were adorable. i love when people are brave and let me do what i want. it's great.

so today i didn't have to work until 3 so i slept at my sisters the night before and could only pack 1 outfit, so i had to be pretty committed and when i put it all together, i wasn't thrilled. but i couldn't do anything about it so i went to work anyway. it was a long day and by mid shift my shirts was untucked and i was seriously cursing my shoe choice. oh well. it was a long 6.5 hour shift followed by a 2.5 hour inventory count. it was a long day and i was so happy to crash when i got home.

i know that all of these pieces are repeats, but i was very uninspired this morning. i never thought i would be so bored at work as i was today. our shipment was delayed so i spent a lot of time fixing stacks of clothes and writing random things in our communication log. as soon as the clock hit 4:00 i was out of there...shoot i forgot to text our employees to remind them about the inventory count tomorrow! kyle will kill me. oh well. i do a lot of other things right, he should just look over this instance where i didn't. so after work i went to get my oil changed...i was the only one in there. sad sad day.

ah..the start of a new work week. the start of another fashion full week in the life of the purple tights. it's sort of refreshing you know, to start over and fresh! due to an inventory count later this week i got to leave a little bit earlier than usual. i headed out the door just after 4:00 and stopped at the bank before heading to slc to meet some friends for dinner. we went to beauty school like a million years ago and still find time to get together for dinner. i just found out that both of them are pregnant with their second child each. wow, i think i am a little behind. oh well, i get to do fun things like peruse the shops at the gateway. it was so much fun wandering without an agenda. i went into j.crew, which was completely dead, and felt like the sales guy was watching my every move. now that i work retail i knew that he was just making note of what to fix after i left. i love anal people like me. i spent the majority of my time at anthropologie. i love that store. i usually try to get a lot of fashion and decorating ideas from that store. right now they have, and have had for a little while, strips of paper looped form the ceiling. some look like butcher paper cut into thin strips and others look like a spool of receipt paper looped up. i loved it. i think that may have to be something i try to duplicate...maybe with some twinkle lights incorporated somehow. huh.

i was late for church today. i woke up 20 minutes before i had to leave. the snooze button was just too good to pass up today. the great thing is that usually these boots kill my feet and are definitely just a 3 hour shoe, but today they last 4 hours and i feel like i could have worn them longer. i am sure you are all glad that you know about the comfortable factor of my boots. after all you are reading my blog. right? there are people viewing this?

this is what i wore to dinner at my sisters. her twins were adorable and ate with forks for the first time in their little lives. i love them and could just eat them up. they got their second hair cut and they look amazingly old. man they grow so fast. we cut halle's hair in a little adorable bob and trimmed grace's hair just enough so she would look cleaned up and still have 'long' hair. funny girl that grace. she will be 9 this year. so old.

week one is down and just 3 more to go. this is fun.

so let's just put it out there...i don't really like working on saturdays. i know call me crazy. so when my alarm when off saturday morning i was faced once again with the question of what to wear. only my mind was really foggy and i had the beginnings of a sore throat. awesome. i love this cardigan with my whole being. i love the colors and ceo of shade told me that they designed that cardigan with me in mind. that is no lie. i really like the idea of things being desinged with me in mind. i really love the fact that my belt that i found at the di is a boys little league belt. so ridiculous. but i really needed a navy belt and i believe i got it for about $1.50! sweet. today i also found out that a friend passed away. sad sad day, but at least he will be in a better place and no more demons to battle.

i met up with rae for dinner at training table. to say that i felt a little overdressed is an understatement as we sat down behind an old lady enjoying her utah's original burger! we discussed the friend that we lost and talked about her plans to get married in the summer. i never thought i would be having that conversation this time last year. funny how life can change your plans for you and you can have no control over the outcome. we also talked about the fact that we now say this year we turn 25. at least back in december we could still say next year we turn 25. ay ay ay.

i was wearing my name tag in this picture so i wouldn't leave it on my dresser like the day before. can i just tell you how much i actually liked this outfit today. it made me wish that i would have woken up early enough to wash my hair and look half decent. maybe i will have to repeat this one in the future. i am feeling a little bit like my old self. i felt like i was in such a rut with my fashion and i lost touch with my bold and colorful self. i feel like i am channeling that aly again and i love it. i am always one for color and wearing purple tights may have been the kick start i needed to get me out of my rut! go me.

and for those of you wondering. this is what my bed looks like every morning before i leave for work. yes that is all my clothes that didn't make the outfit that day. and it may or may not contain all the other clothes that i have worn this week. i have been really lazy lately and haven't had the energy or time to clean up after myself. oh well. next week i guess.

no i really don't wear glasses. today is my day off and i was too lazy to do my makeup hence the glasses. i ran a bunch of errands and cut some hair. i am currently sitting in the office of my sister's home trying to convince her one year old jane to give me back my camera. i don't think that will happen anytime soon though. you got to love kids. she is scurrently walking on her tippy toes and tickled pink to have my camera.

work, work, work again. i woke up and went to the gym. ran a whopping 2.5 miles and wanted to die. but i did it. work was long and boring. i wish my job was exciting. during this time of year it is slow and ridiculously long. we switched up some mannequins and you know i loved that. dressing mannequins is the highlight of my job at times. i get to be creative and whatever i put on the mannequin you can guarantee that a customer will try on in exactness and buy. i love helping people determine what to pair with other pieces whether existing in their wardrobe or new pieces they buy from the store.

fun day of work. we got a few new transitional pieces in the store today...they can be seen here.
so this resulted in me climbing on the step stool and rearranging shelves and hang bars. my hands were filthy but the store looked great. i got multiple compliments on my necklace as i always do when i wear it. i bought it on a whim and spent a whopping $5 on it at an urban outfitter in santa cruz this spring. it has become a favorite piece and i LOVE that i bought it.

after work i rushed home, changed and drove a whole 45 minutes to farmington to attend a wedding reception for an old friend. i had an enjoyable evening enjoying spaghetti at jessie's and playing her mom's beautiful steinway. a treat i always enjoy when visiting their home. the reception was a joy. seeing friends who i never really see since i rarely visit home. i got a chance to also hang out with my little sister's boyfriend a little bit more. we like him. i was also able to hit up dairy queen for some delicious scones. my mom bought me a book...gilead? i have never heard of it, but i will start that soon. after jane erye. well that was the end of day dos.

i worked today and it was wonderful! i was all alone for a few hours until kyle got in from his first day back in school. i didn't really love this outfit, but i was still feeling a little sick and didn't really care all that much.

i'm sick

i am writing to report that after a morning of babysitting i fell ill on New Year's Day! i was in my pajamas all day and never got dressed. then the next morning in had to work and got dressed for about 3 hours and it wasn't that great of an outfit...not even worth posting. so i am lying in bed on day 3 of my purple tights experiment wearing a manhattan beach t.shirt and christmas plaid pajama pants wanting to succomb to my bloody headache. i feel like such a failure already. i will just have to extend my deadline to make up for this lost time. and natalie to answer your question...they are pretty great tights. i got them from old navy and i did buy a second pair as a back up. i can't imagine wearing the exact same pair of tight for 31 days straight. hopefully tomorrow i will be back to normal and ready to post!

it started with a pair of tights.

i had just purchased some adorable purple tights and was wearing them for the first time as part of a smashing outfit to church. i was sitting in sacrament meeting and had the most magnificent idea, upon realizing how much i really loved these tights...i was going to wear my purple tights everyday for 1 month straight.

now i know you might all be saying to yourselves...'come on aly, purple tights everyday?' and to you i say 'yes, purple tights everyday.' i will plan my entire wardrobe for the next month around my tights, starting today and ending january 31. 2010! i will take pictures everyday of my choices and document the whole experience.

i am up for a challenge. and as my dear friend carrie found out tonight...i will do anything you ask me to. i will grab this experiment by the horns and take it down. i will show those purple tights who are boss. i will succeed. i will conquer. if you have any suggestions or comments please leave them. in my mind i haven't really gotten past day 5, so this is where the fun kicks in!
